Infertility Counseling in Florida
Is Infertility Overwhelming your Life?
You never thought getting pregnant would be this hard. Your plan to conceive didn’t include, months and years of trying, countless injections, and doctor visits. You thought you would get pregnant quickly. And you looked forward to sharing the news with your family.
After a while of trying and not using birth control, you sought extra help from a medical professional. That journey was long and daunting. Countless tests, exams, blood-work followed. It all amounted to unanswered questions, and more tests.
Perhaps you tried an IUI or IVF, but it hasn’t been successful. Every time that failed, you felt so much grief. This all led you to have negative thoughts which caused you to feel miserable and depressed.
While this was happening, the world kept turning. Every time you see a pregnancy announcement you’d feel angry or sad. You’d wonder, “Why can’t I get pregnant too?”
All you can think about is getting pregnant. You wonder when it will happen, or if it will ever happen. Sometimes, you think “What is wrong with me?” Infertility is such an emotional roller-coaster. Over time, it starts to wear on you and you become overwhelmed.
Infertility is Hard… Emotionally and Physically.
Please know, infertility is not your fault. Many women experience a lot of shame and guilt during this process. It is normal to feel frustrated and angry because you have tried everything and still have not gotten pregnant.
Infertility can be very isolating. It can have a huge impact on your relationships, especially your relationship with your partner. As online therapists, we are here to support you through your journey and help you cope with infertility. We want you to experience peace throughout this process.

The Emotional Challenges of Infertility
Going through the journey of trying to conceive and infertility can cause you to feel like you have experienced every emotion in the book. The drastic shifts between happiness and grief, or hope and loss are exhausting. Often you find yourself thinking “I can’t do this anymore!” But, then there is nothing you want more than to have a baby, so you keep going.
Infertility can cause you to feel…
Happiness when you think a procedure has worked. Or, when you find a new doctor that you connect with and is offering you hope about the future.
Sadness and grief when you discover a round of IVF or IUI has not been successful. When you receive negative test results or bloodwork. Or, when you see other family members or friends that are getting pregnant.
Hope when you establish a new plan with your doctor. When you begin working with a new specialist and they offer you good news. Or, when lab results are positive.
Stressed with the constant attention and time that is needed for the fertility treatments. With the overwhelming financial burden that is required for the process. When you do not have any answers about your infertility. And, when there is no timeline as to when this might end, or if you will ever have a baby.
Anger when another round of IVF did not work. Angry that this is happening to you. Angry that you feel other people do not understand what you are going through. And anger with your partner or your family member when they offer the idea of stopping the fertility treatments.
The process of navigating having a baby when there are so many unanswered questions around infertility can be absolutely exhausting and overwhelming. Seeking support for yourself or your partner can be the first step in healing yourself emotionally. We are here to help you navigate these emotions.

Online Infertility Counseling in Florida Can Help
Counseling for individuals or couples who are going through infertility can be an effective way of helping you to manage how your fertility journey impacts your life. Many times you might feel alone and think no one understands what you’re going through. This is far from the truth. As online therapists, we have helped many clients who are navigating fertility issues and trying to conceive. We are committed to your success and supporting your change.
We use research-based, evidence-based approaches, and therapy techniques to help our clients feel better, regain a sense of control and feel supported in their life. Often in the first session, if you are describing anxiety symptoms, we will discuss tools and resources that will help alleviate your anxiety. We will discuss these ideas with you and get your opinion. It often helps clients know that there are things they can do to feel in control of their mental health.
Techniques we use during infertility counseling
We have found that there are many different approaches that can be helpful with couples and individuals that are on a fertility journey. One is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT. In Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, you learn to recognize thoughts that are distressing or start the anxiety chain. We work with you to understand how these thoughts are impacting you. Many of these thought patterns do not have a basis in reality. They are just not true. Then we discuss tools you can use to change those thought patterns.
We will also work with you to discuss things in the past that have helped you before. It might be meditation, or not. It might be taking a walk outside, finding a moment for yourself, or talking to a friend. Although you may feel like you have tried everything, we usually find that there’s something you have done that offers you some relief and happiness.
We might also explore the different factors in your life that are overwhelming you. We will explore how we respond to these stressors and ways to decrease our emotional response.
Either way, you deserve the help you need. Infertility and IVF can be very challenging, overwhelming, and heartbreaking. No one should have to go through that and feel alone and defeated. Counseling offers you a wonderful way to get support during a dark time in your life.
Our Approach to Counseling for Couples and Individuals Going through Infertility
Initially, our goal is for you to feel comfortable, safe, and secure. Many women and their partners feel a lot of pressure and guilt while trying to conceive. There is immense shame in our society around infertility and sharing that story. But, we want you to feel that online therapy is a non-judgmental, shame-free place to be. It is a place where you can share your heartache and your pain. Most of all, we want you to know that we can help you as you navigate the challenges of infertility.
We work with both individuals and couples. We often find that couples therapy can be helpful when you and your partner are struggling through infertility. But, sometimes you need a quiet, safe place where you can be alone and connect with a therapist. To talk about things you’re not ready to share with anyone else. Either way, we are happy to work with you via online therapy in Florida.
What is Infertility Counseling?
Infertility Counseling is therapy for individuals that are on their journey of trying to have a baby. Maybe you have just begun the process, or maybe it has been years and years of trying. You might have tried medical intervention, or you might be opting for a more holistic approach. Wherever you are on that journey, talking to an infertility therapist can be very helpful.
Here at The Heard Counseling, we offer infertility counseling for individuals and couples that reside in Florida. We offer therapy online for residents located in Florida through a secure video platform. Our physical office is located in Miami, Florida, close to Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Brickell, and Key Biscayne. But, at the moment we are only seeing clients online.
Sometimes we find it helpful, with your permission and agreement, to collaboratively work with your doctors on your fertility goals. This might include a fertility specialist, reproductive endocrinologist, or a registered dietician. Our goal is to ensure the best success for you and your partner.
Common Questions about Infertility Counseling in Florida
Will my insurance cover my Infertility counseling?
Unfortunately, we do not take insurance at this time. There are several reasons why we don’t. One of those reasons is we value your confidentiality. Often insurance requires that you provide your medical notes and records. These records can go through many different hands at the insurance company. Another is, in order to be covered by insurance you have to receive a psychiatric diagnosis, which at times does not always fit the clients we are seeing. Unfortunately, couples counseling is not usually covered by insurance.
We understand if you would like to go through your insurance and happy to connect you with other practitioners who do accept insurance.
Where do you offer infertility counseling?
We offer online therapy in Florida. Our counseling office is physically located in Miami, South Florida. However, we are not offering in-person therapy at the moment for the safety of clients and our therapists.
I am not sure if therapy is right for me.
We understand that the last thing you might want to do is have to deal with yet another thing to do. You might think that “Therapy is for crazy people, but I am not crazy.” Or, you might believe that you should be able to solve your own problems, you shouldn’t need help.
No matter how you view therapy, what is important is that if you are struggling you deserve things to be different. You deserve to be happy, less stressed, and supported. Taking care of yourself is so important. It is not only important for you, but for your family and your partner. If you take care of yourself, if you are feeling better then you can more present for those in your life.
